Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge

1/1/2012
Had a great day at Lake Woodruff this morning January 1, 2012. The morning started out with some dense fog and although it made it challenging for any type of wildlife photography, it turned out good with a lot of activity in the small bird department. Here is an example of today's opportunities. Savannah Sparrow
Savannah Sparrows and Carolina Wrens were very active all morning.

More On Gemini Springs

Bald Eagles are regulars at Gemini Springs. They are often found perched on the power lines along the back trail. It is common to see two or three of them at one time.

On a bright sunny day you can easily come across any pair of eagles, providing a great opportunity for wildlife photographers, professionals and amateurs alike.

With so many species of birds that concentrate along the river and spring area, it is easy to see why Gemini springs is one of our favorite places we have designated for bird photography. If you plan to go, show up early and bring some food with you. Located on the southwest end of Volusia County, the park has a lot to offer. It is the perfect place to bring the whole family for a day at the park. You can go Walking, Hiking, Bike Riding, Fishing or Kayaking.

However, photography is what brings most of us here. The landscape is fantastic and the birds are always active.
